If you’re still purchasing wood columns for the exterior, you’re nuts! Composite and fiberglass columns combine the best in form and function. Our manufacturers make true architectural columns (they have entasis – straight for the bottom third and tapered the top two thirds.) Other benefits include load bearing capability: from 12,000 to 40,000 lbs, weather resistance: they won’t split or crack ever and are unaffected by insects und fungi, resistance to wear and tear: their tough, stone like surface (a composition of marble dust and fiberglass) is tough as nails and resists dents, scratches and chips and gives the quality sound and feel of stone. These columns are easy to install and virtually maintenance free: no ventilation or priming required. All this, and the cost is competitive with wood. Why would you use anything else? Smooth or fluted, available standard with Tuscan caps and bases or the fancier Ionic, Scamozzi or Corinthian capitols. We stock the most common sizes. Custom sizes, wood columns, split columns are all available.

This is a real revolution in exterior running trim. These manufacturers are the only ones we have found to offer a consistent and workable material that is simply impervious to weather while working just like wood. Cut it, rout it, mill it and fasten it with conventional woodworking tools. If your trim will get steady weather then you should be using PVC. Water table boards, drip edges, kick-boards are perfect uses. There are also PVC moldings that are cost-effective and indistinguishable from wood. These products paint beautifully and hold paint for the life of the paint.
