Columns and Posts
Architectural columns are an essential element of classical architecture. They serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, providing stability to buildings while adding beauty and grandeur to their design. These vertical, cylindrical or rectangular-shaped structures serve a critical purpose in providing stability and balance to a structure, allowing architects to create grand and impressive buildings.
The most common styles of columns originated in ancient Greece and later became popular in the Roman Empire. In addition to the classical styles, modern architects have developed new styles of columns that reflect contemporary design sensibilities.
Columns can be made from a variety of materials. We specialize in Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP), Polyurethane, and wood. The choice of material depends on the style of the column and whether it must be load bearing. Our columns also vary in size, from small and purely decorative to massive structural columns that support the weight of an entire building.
Over the centuries, columns have come to play a vital role in architecture, providing both stability and aesthetic beauty.
